Invisible and floor-mounted RFID

Among the trends expressed by the Retail sector there is the need to have non-invasive security systems available to be installed at strategic points in the sales areas. Checkpoint Systems (from source to shopper solution provider) offers the new UF-1 RFID floor antenna.
In addition to ensuring a wide range, the UF-1 system based on a patented RFID reading technology, enables the exploitation of the power of RFID data to improve inventory management.
The UF-1 antenna is suitable for different types of stores, including shopping centers where the use of traditional EAS antennas at the entrances is limited, or big stores, which require large entrances free of any obstacle.
The use of Checkpoint Systems’ patented Wirama RadarTM technology allows the new floor RFID solution to identify the passage of a product label/tag via the antenna, both inside and outside the store or near the entrance. It is also possible to determine whether an item is simply near the exit or if it is potentially prone theft, thus minimizing false alarms.

From the world

The Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems IMWS and its partners have tested materials that can replace microplastics in cosmetic products and are biodegradable.
The goal was a cost-effective production of biodegradable cellulose particles from beech wood, oats, wheat and maize that meet the requirements for abrasiveness and cleaning performance in dental and skincare products.

Controlled humidity in a bag

The Turkish company Deka Plastik has developed Trendlife Gold MA/MH, It releases nano-sized compounds into the modified atmosphere in which the fresh product is placed. Nanotech compounds released from the bag film into the atmosphere react with excess water molecules released by the product. These nanotech compounds, or nanotubes, can destroy excess water molecules and maintain a specific humidity level. The bags control the decomposition process indirectly by reducing humidity inside the bag.
Deka Plastik also developed a special version of Trendlife Gold to inhibit the growth of pathogens and prevent infections, particularly during the most critical storage phases, and bags capable of delaying decomposition by releasing antimicrobial substances.

Protecting in style

Impeccable expertise in the production of special graphic papers has enabled Favini to combine the high quality of its products with unique safety features, offering luxury brands a solution that pairs appeal with anti-counterfeiting demands. Thanks to a special formulation, the new Secure Zap paperboard “reacts” with a sound when recognized by a portable scanner, thus making it possible to distinguish an authentic product from a counterfeit.

This security feature is part of the Secure Suite, a modular interface developed by Favini which also includes:
– watermarks, fibers and reagents used as general security features for protecting products and documents;
– instant verification systems (Secure-Zap, -Dust, -Check) that use markers, lenses, laser pens and sonar devices for authentication;
– Secure-Skin, with micro-embossing bearing logos and other texts only visible through a 15x lens.
An excellent white balance, appealing texture and the guarantee of obtaining optimal printing results, even in combination with various finishing processes (hot foil, varnish, dry relief) make the new material the ideal support for luxury packaging, especially boxes and cases, in addition to cards and labels. It is part of the distributor’s Strand Paper collection.
